Ndi Nsukka, it is known that Chief John Nnia Nwodo (jnr) and his brother, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo who were down and out politically and financially before Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi became Governor were the greatest beneficiaries of Governor Ugwuanyi’s magnanimity and kindness.
Apart from money and contracts that were given to John Nnia Nwodo that made him to be speaking good of Governor Ugwuanyi in several occasions, the political neophyte son of his brother, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Hon. Ikenna Nwodo was made SPA upon his return from overseas by Governor Ugwuanyi. To further pacify and accord the Nwodos respect, Governor Ugwuanyi later made Ikenna Chairman of Igbo-Etiti LGA. It was Governor Ugwuanyi that made Nnia Nwodo President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
In obvious display of their known treacherous and envious character, it was Nnia Nwodo, who led political onslaught against Governor Ugwuanyi ahead of 2023 elections for not supporting the son-in-law to their elder sister, Mrs. Grace Obayi, Bar. Chijioke Edeoga to emerge governorship candidate of PDP in Enugu State. Edeoga who was Commissioner in Ugwuanyi’s government until he contested and lost PDP governorship primary to Bar. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah was railroaded into Labour Party by his brothers-in-laws, the Nwodos.
It was the Nwodos that recruited some Nsukka people into the war against Governor Ugwuanyi taking advantage of the Obidient movement bandwagon and effect of Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential ambition that pervaded the entire gamut of the society especially the church to hoodwink and convert some people.
What Governor Ugwuanyi received from Nwodos as payback are conspiracy, betrayal and backstabbing.
Now that the Presidential election of Mr. Peter Obi is over and matter shifted to court, it is time for Nsukka people to look inward to avoid being trapped and misled politically by the Nwodos who are desperate of reviving their dead and moribund political dynasty using Edeoga’s governorship ambition.
Remember that the Nwodos have served successive governments in the country even during the military regime without anything tangible to show for it in terms of human empowerment and infrastructure.
Across the Enugu North Senatorial zone known as Nsukka, the Nwodos cannot point at any infrastructural project they attracted or executed while serving in government for many decades.
The Nwodos are pushing for Edeoga’s governorship ambition because he is their brother- in-law and proxy. A governorship seat for Edeoga is a governorship seat for the Nwodos who will be calling the shots from Ukehe House. The Nwodos are not pushing for Edeoga because of their love for him or Nsukka people but for their selfish agenda that are in total contravention of the zoning of governorship seat in Enugu State that has engendered peace and seamless transition of power.
The Nwodos are desperate. They are determined and hellbent on destroying the political future of Nsukka people and peace of Enugu state with their push for Nsukka man Edeoga to succeed another Nsukka man Governor Ugwuanyi. If not that Edeoga is the political godson and brother in law of Nwodos, Nwodos wouldn’t have supported his governorship ambition the way they are doing.
Ndi Nsukka, say NO to Edeoga and Nwodos’ political subterfuge capable of pitching Nsukka people against the rest of Enugu people.
If Nwodos can betray and backstab Governor Ugwuanyi that gave them political lifeline, who told you they will spare anybody in Nsukka and Enugu if Edeoga is elected Governor by crook or hook?
