Outrage as Davido’s son drowns at home
Anger and tears have trailed the death of three-year-old Ifeanyi, son of ace music star, David Adedeji, popularly known as Davido, in a swimming pool at the family home in highbrow Banana Island, in Lagos on Monday.
Already, the police has begun grilling eight domestic staff. “Eight domestic staff have been brought in for questioning. Anyone found not culpable will be let off. Those found culpable will be prosecuted,” the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed.
Ifeanyi, who was born to the DMW chief his his fiancee, Chioma Rowland, died three days after marking his third birthday.
Reports say the boy was rushed to a hospital in Lekki where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, yesterday, announced the suspension of its political activities for the week following the death of Ifeanyi, son of Davido, nephew of Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke.
The party’s caretaker Chairman in the state, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, who stated this in a condolence message in Osogbo, directed all party organs and committees to suspend activities in commiseration with the family.
He described the incident as “a very sad occurrence. We mourn the sorrowful exit of our son, Ifeanyi.
“We pray for the repose of his soul. It is a sad day, but we remain steadfast in our faith in the Lord of the Universe. Our condolence goes to Davido, our youth ambassador. We commiserate with our father figure, Dr. Deji Adeleke and the entire Adeleke family. We pray the good Lord grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he said.
Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, also announced the cancellation of all official engagements scheduled for Tuesday to mourn the late Davido’s son.
“Dear David/Chioma, I am sober, and I am deeply saddened by your son’s death, Ifeanyi. I’ve cancelled my official engagements for today in order to mourn him quietly.
“Everyone will miss Ifeanyi. May the Creator accept our prayers for him,” the former Abia State governor expressed his condolences in a post on his official Facebook page, yesterday.
