The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a stern warning to the Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress led by Ugochukwu Agbalah for conniving with his party’s gubernatorial candidate, Uchenna Nnaji to name and parade one Mr. George Ogara as the deputy guber candidate of his party in the forthcoming 2023 guber election in Enugu State.

The warning which was contained in a disclaimer issued by INEC on Monday, 9th of January, 2023 stated that the commission only recognizes Chief Robert Ngwu as the authentic guber candidate of the APC in Enugu State, insisting that any plot to remove Ngwu through any fraudulent means will never see the light of the day.

Furthermore, the Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Mr. Festus Okoye who issued the disclaimer warned Ugochukwu Agbalah, Uche Nnaji and co-travelers that such act of trying to substitute a name legally recognized by the body shall attract the full wrath of the law, warning them against fraud and impersonation.

“This act by Agbalah, Uche Nnaji and co. is pure fraud, a clear case of impersonation which can bring their knees down to the full wrath of the law. It is disappointing seeing Agbalah on Television Continental (TVC) on Monday, claiming that INEC had just published an updated and final copy of national election candidates, and would soon do the same for state elections. The INEC hereby inform the general public that the final list of candidates for the 2023 general elections was already published 150 days before the dates set for the 2023 general elections in compliance with the provision of Section 32 (1) of the Electoral Act 2022,” INEC maintained.

Meanwhile, professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria who is also the former Attorney General of Imo State, Sir Francis Dike has described this behavior as fraud, and a corrupt act, which does not speak well of a person aspiring to be in the number one position of a state, maintaining that such could only be witnessed in a rotten society.

Recall that yesterday in Abuja, some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State were seen in a viral video shouting and rooting for the removal of their party Chairman, Ugochukwu Agbala for rocking their party with all manner of injustice.
