BREAKING: I failed as commissioner for environment, Edeoga admits as he’s booed

Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, has admitted failing the state as commissioner for environment.

He made the admission on Tuesday at a programmed tagged “Enugu Gubernatorial Candidates Podium Discussion” organised by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu and the Justice, Development and Peace Commission Commission in collaboration with the Blessed Sacrament Parish Laity Council.

Responding to a question on waste management, Edeoga said, “The state of waste management is terrible. I failed in that aspect, but I will do better when you elect me as governor. Please, forgive me”.

However, his comment attracted boos from the angry audience, with shouts of “No” and “We don’t want, we don’t want” renting the air. It took a while before the moderator was able to restore calm.

Recall that Edeoga served as Commissioner for Local Government Matters between 2015 and 2019 and as Commissioner for Environment between 2019 and March 2021 in the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration.
