I finance Edeoga’s campaign with proceeds made – Woman caught selling PVCs confesses

Mrs Chinwendu Nnamani, aged 41 who has been arrested by the Department of Enugu State Command has today confessed to have been using the proceeds she makes from selling PVCs to finance the political campaign of Chijioke Edeoga, the embattled guber candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu State.

Police detectives serving in the state Criminal Investigation Department of Enugu State Command on January 31, 2023, arrested a female suspect, one Chinwendu Nnamani, 41.

Nnamani was arrested by the Police detectives at the Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu State Command after she was allegedly seen in the viral social media video clip selling INEC Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) N1000 each at a primary school in Emene, Enugu.

Also arrested is one Nkiruka Patience Obinna, 38, identified as a staff of INEC and alleged to have given the said PVCs to the first suspect for distribution to the actual owners.

During the interrogation by the police, she confessed that Chijioke Edeoga is his husband’s best friend, and that he constantly called them soliciting for their support financially and otherwise. She stated that the family had done everything possible in order to make sure he enjoyed their full support, no matter the cost.

Mrs Nnamani whose husband is said to be one of the spokesmen of the Enugu State Labour Party further disclosed that she has more than a thousand permanent voter’s cards at her disposal, stating that half of them had been sold and the money remitted to the Labour Party campaign office.

All efforts made to get the reaction of the Director General of Labour Party Campaign Organization in Enugu, Chief Fidel Ayogu was not successful as he evaded all calls from our correspondent.

“Investigation has been concluded, the case is in court in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, and the suspects arraigned accordingly,” Police Spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe said
