Shocked, angry, disappointed, surprised and worried over the breaking news of the secret oath of

allegiance involving the former Minister of Information, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, former Minister of Power, Prof. Barth. Nnaji, Labour Party governorship candidate, Bar. Chijioke Edeoga and the Enugu Labour Party House Of Assembly members-elect in a shrine near Aba, Abia State, two Nsukka Catholic priests and ardent supporters of Labour Party in Nsukka, Rev. Fr. Ben Agbo and Rev. Fr. Dennis Attah amd other Pentecostal clergymen in the state have strongly condemned the fetish and ritualistic act being introduced into the politics of the state by the desperate Labour Party leaders and their House of Assembly members-elect.

Expressing their displeasure, the duo of Rev. Fr. Agbo and Rev.Fr. Attah, told their close confidants, who pleaded for anonymity that they were highly disappointed in the trio of Nwodo, Edeoga and Nnaji over their desperation for political power and control of the state.

“This is not what we bargained for when we supported and urged the Catholic community and other churches in the state to support Labour Party in the last elections.

“We thought these men are noble and God fearing men like Peter Obi. From what has happened during the oath taking, it is clear that they are ritualistic and diabolic. If not, how and why should they take the House of Assembly members-elect on the Labour Party platform into secret oath of allegiance in a move to destabilise the state? Why? This has made us to regret and be ashamed of our support for the Labour Party in the elections in the state.

“If this despicable and unholy act of these leaders was not disclosed by the media, we wouldn’t have believed it. Exposing this evil plan of these Labour Party leaders is very good and timely because it will help the people of the state to know their real enemies and take on them in time,” two confidants of the Catholic priests disclosed.

Speaking in the same vein, the General Overseer and Bishop of Power Solution Ministries, Trans Ekulu, Enugu, Bishop Dr. Chimezie Uwammadu described the secret oath of allegiance taken by some of the Labour Party sponsors and their House of Assembly members-elect in Enugu and their godfathers in Abia shrine as the height of political desperation and brinkmanship.

Bishop Uwammadu called on those involved especially the trio of Nwodo, Edeoga and Nnaji to hide their faces in shame and seek for God’s forgiveness to avoid His wrath.

Also speaking, a resident of Enugu State and a medical doctor, Dr. Ugonna Nwobu, expressed shock over the ugly development, saying it will put the state and its politics in badlight.

“Why should anyone take anybody to the shrine to take oath of allegiance for him? Were the House of Assembly members-elect voted in the last election by only those who took them to shrine for oath of allegiance?”

In her own reaction, Mrs. Nkechi Nwanze described the secret oath taking by the Labour Party leaders and House of Assembly members-elect on the party platform as evil and disgraceful.

“Must Labour Party rule Enugu State? What is the difference between Labour Party and PDP in the state? The people of Enugu State voted for Labour Party in the National Assembly elections because of Obi’s presidential ambition and voted for Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of the PDP in governorship election because he is the best among the contestants.
Enugu people are wise enough to choose their preferred leaders at the polls and they have done so in the last elections.

“Engaging in the secret oath of allegiance will tarnish the image of the Labour Party leaders and followers in the state for too long,” Mrs. Nwanze said.
