…Lambasts Okey Ezea for inciting Nsukka against Enugu people

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Frank Nweke Jr has stepped down for the gubernatorial flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Peter Mbah, saying he shared a common ideology and economic blueprint with the ruling party’s candidate.

Nweke who announced the new development to his supporters on Wednesday, commended them for their solidarity and support while in the race.

The former APGA governorship candidate further enjoined his supporters and Enugu electorate to queue behind the candidacy of the PDP flagbearer citing competence, leadership exploits, outstanding charisma and Mbah’s ability to deliver a new Enugu State to the people.

Sources close to Nweke disclosed that the decision to step down for Peter Mbah of the PDP was brokered by some leaders of Nkanu nation, including stakeholders and youth bodies from the Nsukka and Enugu West senatorial zones superintended by former governors of the state, Jim Nwobodo, Dr. Okwesilize Nwodo and former President of the Senate, Chief Ken Nnamani at Amechi Awkunanaw yesterday’s night.

It was gathered by impeccable sources that Nweke was prevailed upon to forego his ambition for the larger interest of the people in the state as Mbah’s plans would resoundingly change the narrative of governance and economic trajectory in the state when elected.

While accepting to step down for Mbah, Nweke said he had also taken time to look at Mbah’s past records as impressive and shared the same vision with him.

“We share a common vision. A common destiny. A common economic blueprint and socio-political trajectory that will eradicate insecurity, create jobs, employ our youths and guarantee food security.

“It was a difficult decision, however, I had to do it for the greater interest of our state,” he said.

He dispelled rumours and fake news being peddled by Edeoga and his aides about Mbah, calling them callous, unhealthy and politics of desperation.

Nweke who also made some scathing statement about Okey Ezea who was recently elected by the Labour Party as a tribal and clannish bigot who was bent at setting the state on fire through his uncouth comment.

He recalled that Ezea had called on Nsukka people to vote the Labour Party candidate, Edeoga, because of his Nsukka background.

According to him, “Ezea, with due respect, has embarked on a dangerous path of primitive politics. Rather than inciting Nsukka people to vote Edeoga, Labour Party candidate because of his Nsukka background, he should call on Edeoga to present his achievements in over 35 years in politics.

“Edeoga, like Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, is an Nsukka man, yes. They’re even maternal cousin. But since he found himself in Enugu East zone, he should not campaign on sentiment. He should present his credentials. I have presented mine. Peter Mbah has done that too. Let Edeoga present his programmes and achievements in offices. We were all alive when he was Commissioner of Environment and we saw his abysmal performance. If you call it, total and embarrassing failure, you’re right,” Nweke noted.
