News Break: Anger as APC guber candidate, Nnaji assaults female journalist in Enugu

It was a terrible day for Mrs Cecilia Ilodi of Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), Enugu, as the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, Uchenna Nnaji, was said to have today, ordered his men to manhandle the female journalist who was immediately said to have slid into coma and was currently receiving treatment in Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu.
According to an eyewitness who identified himself as Chief Ignatius Odunze, the convoy of the APC governorship candidate rammed into Mrs Ilodi who was allegedly said to have been driving along Achina street in Idaw-River Layout, Enugu.
The female journalist whose car was seriously damaged was said to have quickly blocked the remaining cars of Nnaji from having a free access to the road. She came down and challenged the drivers, accusing them of reckless driving, and demanded that her car be fixed.
This drama drew the attention of Nnaji who was in one of the Toyota SUVs and he alighted and accused the woman of breaking his convoy. He further got infuriated when the female journalist accused him of breaking the traffic rules, questioning if he (Nnaji) was to enthrone disorderliness in the state if he becomes the governor of Enugu State tomorrow.
Having considered such question as an affront, he ordered his men to descend on the lady and force her to remove the car from the road. The vigilante men and other security guards in the company of the gubernatorial candidate never tarried in executing the order of their master and they descended on the lady whereas some of them forcefully snatched her car keys and drove her vehicle out of the road.
This drama drew the attention of passersby who immediately rushed to pick the lady from the gutter, almost naked, and rushed her to the hospital.
“As I was driving through the street, I noticed along queues of vehicles belonging to Uchenna Nwakaibeya Nnaji which has caused an unusual traffic in the area. I came down from my vehicle to know what was happening and I saw a lady shouting on top of her voice saying that they must repair her damaged brand new Toyota Lexus. Before I could know it, the APC candidate alighted and instructed his men to do the needful and get him out of this drama scene. The men descended on the lady and finally landed her in the dirty gutter, even to the point of tearing her garment, before taking her car off the road, and zoomed off. I pity the innocent poor woman. I have never seen where a woman was beaten in such kind of way. This is indeed a total display of beastly act. Look at those who want to rule Enugu State displaying acts of gangsterism,” Chief Odunze lamented.
Our correspondent who went to the above stated hospital to confirm the incident reported that the journalist was seriously injured but she’s responding to treatment in the government-owned hospital.
