I’m not Enugu electorate, you can’t ride on my candidacy to sell yours, Obi cautions Edeoga, others

The Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi has cautioned the dismissed Enugu Labour Party guber candidate, Chijioke Edeoga and other desperate politicians in his cohort who want to exploit the goodwill he enjoys from the Nigerian citizens to sell the Edeoga embattled candidacy.

Obi who issued this warning in a terse statement made available to the newsmen after a visit to the former Ohanaeze President General, Nnia Nwodo in Enugu, was of the opinion that the manner with which the candidates of his party in Enugu State were going about their campaigns was totally different from his campaign style.

He stressed that politics should not be a do or die affair because it is a call to serve, not a call to eat, warning that anyone who is desperate to assume power should be feared, abhorred and avoided because such a person would loot the treasury of the state dry and abandon the masses in a biting penury.

He went further to record his displeasure on Edeoga who had refused to obey the court order and went ahead to deepen the crisis rocking the party by Appealing a case already rightly decided by the Federal High Court.

“Let me use this opportunity to say this. I, Gregory Peter Obi have not endorsed any guber candidate in Enugu State LP since the court of law has ruled that Enugu Labour Party has no guber candidate. Those who feel that identifying with me through having pictures with me shall be a straight way for them to win should please bury away such illusions. No two individuals are the same. I am Peter Gregory Obi and I am running for the presidency because I believe I can do it. You can’t be vying for an elective position and hope to ride on another person’s back, no. It doesn’t work that way. We are praying for a positive change in our society and the desire to have such a change must be intentional, selfless and left for the people to decide based on the personality of the person, and not on his affiliation whatsoever with another person.

I thank you all for all you do, but I must say that I have not identified with any guber candidate in Enugu State. I am not the electorate, you can’t ride on my candidacy to sell yours . It’s the duty of the people of Enugu to vote who they want as their Governor, not me. I urge you all not to be desperate in the pursuit of power, only God gives power, not man. Peter Obi doesn’t give power, therefore no one should say he wants to sell his candidacy under the Obidient Movement,” Obi concluded.

Edeoga during the birthday ceremony of Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General was seen in a viral video causing commotion as he desperately struggled to identify and take a photo with Peter Obi who never pretended about his displeasure for Edeoga’s candidacy and his show of lack of decorum.
