Enugu 2023: Labour Party Chieftain Reveals Why Court Sacked Edeoga As Guber Candidate (Video)

A chieftain of Labour Party, Mr Okey Ezirigwe has said that Chijioke Edeoga was sacked as the guber candidate of the Labour Party in Enugu because he could not provide the receipts of the forms he claimed that he purchased.

On a live radio programme, Urban Parliament, held today on Urban Radio 94.5 Fm, Enugu, he maintained that Evarest Nnaji popularly known as Odengene paid a whooping sum of N25m to LP, which comprises the fees for nomination/expression of interest form, waiver and consensus fee as was instructed by the national body of the party.

He further stated that Edeoga was never joined in the suit because he was never a candidate of the party and had never purchased any form.

By Mr Ezirigwe’s words, the national leadership of the party is behind Everest Nnaji and never recognized Edeoga as a member of the party, not to mention being its guber flagbearer. He made reference to the video trending on social media where Edeoga was battling to take a photograph with Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, asking if such would have been the case if Edeoga was enjoying due or any support from the leadership of the party at the national level.

“The matter on Appeal will be decided before 22nd of December, 2022. I am very certain that justice will prevail. Edeoga, the meddlesome interloper was never a candidate of our party and has no receipt of any of the forms he claims he has obtained,” Ezirigwe said.

Recall that Justice Evelyn Maha of the Federal High Court in Abuja on 9th November, 2022 annulled the supposed primary election that was said to have produced Chijioke Edeoga as the guber candidate of Enugu Labour Party and sacked him as the party’s flagbearer.
